Window Screen Repair in Las Vegas

A torn screen, loose corner or bent frame can make an otherwise usable window frustrating to open. The right repair depends on which part of the screen is damaged and whether the existing frame still fits the window correctly.

Agave Windows reviews supported window-screen repair requests in Las Vegas, alongside our other repair service options. Send a photo of the complete window and the screen concern. We can discuss whether the project involves replacing mesh, repairing supported components or supplying a compatible replacement screen assembly.

The short version

Torn window screen mesh can often be replaced in the existing frame if the frame is straight and still fits the window. Bent, poorly fitting or missing screens need a new screen made to fit that window.

Identify what is damaged

Screen mesh, the screen frame and the parts that retain the screen have different jobs. A hole in otherwise intact mesh may call for a different scope from a bent frame or a missing attachment. Start with what you can see rather than ordering a generic screen by rough size.

Tell us whether the screen is torn, loose, difficult to remove, difficult to reinstall or missing entirely. If it has repeatedly come out of position, mention that history. A screen that fits poorly should not be assumed to need only new mesh.

For multiple windows, identify each opening separately. Two adjacent windows can look similar while having different screen dimensions or retention details. A simple room name and window position help keep the request organized.

Rescreening and replacing the assembly are different

Rescreening replaces the mesh within a retained frame using a compatible method. It depends on the frame being suitable for reuse and the new material fitting the existing arrangement. The assessment should establish that basis before treating it as the obvious solution.

A replacement screen assembly addresses the frame as well as the mesh and compatible retention components. It may be the appropriate discussion when the frame is damaged, missing or unable to hold the intended material properly.

Ask the proposal to state which scope is being offered. A low mesh-only price should not be compared directly with a complete custom screen assembly. The useful comparison is what will fit the window and what components are actually being replaced.

four steps, in order

How a Project Runs

See the full process
  1. 1

    Tell us about the project

Send your location, the approximate number of openings, and what you want to improve.

  2. 2

    Review the openings and options

We discuss your priorities and assess the details that affect product selection and installation.

  3. 3

    Define the work in writing

The proposal identifies the products and agreed installation scope so you can understand what the project includes.

  4. 4

    Install and review the result

At completion, we review the installed products, operation, visible finish, and care information with you.

Check the frame before selecting mesh

The screen frame needs to sit in its intended position and accept the appropriate retention parts. Bent rails, damaged corners or missing tabs can affect the result even if new mesh looks taut when first installed.

Ask whether the existing frame is suitable to remain and what limitations are visible. If a frame repair is proposed, identify the supported method and the expected fit afterward. Do not assume every screen frame can be straightened or that a generic corner fits every profile.

Also distinguish the removable screen frame from the main window frame. Damage to the window itself belongs in a separate repair discussion, and a frame beyond repair is a question for replacement windows. The estimate should identify which assembly is being addressed so a screen repair is not mistaken for broader window restoration.

Match the retention system

There are two retention questions. One is how the mesh is held in its removable frame. The other is how that complete screen frame stays in the window. Fixing one does not automatically fix the other.

In a common splined screen, flexible spline presses the mesh into a groove around the frame. The appropriate spline depends on the groove and the selected mesh, including its thickness. Phifer's sizing guidance includes different spline recommendations for thicker screening materials. That is why a mesh upgrade cannot always reuse the original spline specification unchanged. The actual frame and material instructions govern the selection.

Clips, tabs, springs or other fittings hold the complete screen in its intended window position. Their size, placement and condition affect fit. A newly rescreened frame can still sit loosely if a required retaining component is missing; tightly installed mesh does not replace that component's job.

Photograph accessible details without forcing the screen out. A useful pair of images shows the whole screen position and the damaged corner or fitting. If one matching attachment remains, include it as context rather than assuming it is identical across every window in the home.

When the screen is missing, assessment needs to establish the screen recess and retention arrangement at the actual opening. Visible glass dimensions describe a different boundary. A neighbor's screen or another room's assembly may help identify the system, but it should not become the final size and hardware specification without verification.

This two-part review keeps the result focused: mesh secured within a suitable frame, and that frame secured in its intended screen position. It does not turn an insect screen into a security barrier or fall-protection device.

The Part Behind the Glass

Our installation standards
  • Measuring an existing opening before ordering

    Measured before anything is ordered

  • Flashing tape applied around a rough opening

Flashed so water has a way out

  • New window frame checked with a level and shimmed

    Set level, plumb and shimmed

Choose mesh around a clear purpose

Different screen materials can vary in appearance, visibility, opening size and handling requirements. Review the actual available material and how it works with the frame. A specialty mesh should not be assumed compatible with every screen profile.

If your main priority is preserving the view, ask to compare real samples. If durability around pets is the concern, explain how the screen is being damaged. If you are considering a solar-control screen, treat that as a separate product discussion (our guide to west-facing windows in Las Vegas covers sun exposure) with documented characteristics rather than assuming ordinary insect mesh provides a rated heat-control result.

A material name alone does not establish the finished screen's performance. Ask what the selected product is intended to do and how it affects appearance and operation. Avoid choosing on an unsupported claim that one mesh is invisible, indestructible or universally best.

Keep insect screens separate from fall prevention

An insect screen is not a barrier designed to keep a child from falling through an open window. CPSC specifically advises families not to depend on screens for that purpose. Read the agency's window-safety guidance.

A repaired screen does not change that distinction. If fall prevention is a concern, discuss suitable measures for the actual opening with an appropriate professional. Screen repair should not be described as certifying the window for that purpose.

Likewise, a material marketed for resistance to pet damage should not be treated as guaranteed animal containment. Consider the animal's behavior and supervise access appropriately. The service scope here is the compatible insect-screen assembly, not a security or containment system.

Consider the window's normal operation

The repaired screen should fit the intended window arrangement without obstructing normal sash movement or hardware. Ask how it will be removed and reinstalled for ordinary care. A screen that appears correct from outside may still conflict with a crank, latch or moving sash if it is the wrong design, because screen position varies across window style options.

If the window itself sticks or fails to lock, describe that separately. New mesh will not repair the operating hardware; that is window operation repair. The assessment can route both concerns, but the written work should identify each one.

For unusually shaped or difficult-access windows, share a whole-opening photo early. The product design and access method may affect whether the repair is supported. Do not climb outside or lean through a window to obtain a screen measurement.

Organize a group of screens by opening

For several screens, an opening register is more useful than a single quantity. Use room and position labels that remain clear when the frame is removed: “bedroom, left when viewed from indoors” is more precise than “left screen.” Put the same ID on the photos, scope and any agreed removable label.

A hypothetical five-screen request might contain these different conditions:

Opening groupObserved conditionScope question
Two bedroom screensTorn mesh, frames appear to fitAre both frames suitable for rescreening?
Kitchen screenBent corner and loose fitIs a supported frame repair practical or is a new assembly needed?
Living-room screenMesh intact, retaining clip missingCan the correct fitting restore the intended fit?
Bathroom windowScreen missingWhat screen dimensions and retention arrangement fit this opening?

The table describes an assessment task, not a diagnosis or a price. Its value is keeping five openings from automatically becoming five identical replacements. It also avoids treating four present screens as the whole project when the missing fifth assembly requires separate measurement.

Decide how much visual consistency matters. New mesh can appear different beside older screens that remain. If a matching group is the priority, compare the actual material together and identify which openings belong to that group before ordering. If restoring only damaged units is the priority, record the accepted variation.

Where frames leave the property for work, confirm identification, responsibility for removal and refitting, and the return arrangement in advance. At completion, check each screen against its assigned opening, including normal window operation and removal for care. A screen can be intact yet still belong in the wrong location.

What to expect from measuring and assessment

The first request can begin with approximate information, but final screen dimensions and component details should be verified for the actual assembly. Ask whether measurement is performed at the property and whether the first appointment includes repair or only assessment.

Confirm any assessment charge, minimum service scope and whether supported work is completed on site or through a separate return arrangement. Those details should be clear before scheduling.

If a screen must be removed for work, ask how it will be identified and returned to its opening. Keep the agreed room labels consistent. This small administrative detail can prevent confusion when several similar screens are involved.

10

Compare complete repair proposals

A useful proposal identifies the number of screens, retained or replacement frames, mesh specification and any supplied retention parts. It should also state whether measuring, removal, refitting and disposal are included.

If a specialty material is selected, ask what documentation supports its intended use and whether the frame is compatible. If an alternate is proposed because the original product is unavailable, review the resulting appearance and fit before authorizing it.

The agreement should explain how newly discovered frame damage is handled. A mesh-only assumption may need revision after inspection, but the additional work and price should be discussed before it proceeds. Keep component and labor coverage in writing rather than assuming the repair renews the window's entire warranty.

11

11 of 13

Prepare for the appointment

Move small personal items away from the windows and mention furniture that is difficult to move. Tell us about shutters, blinds and alarms near the opening. Agree on who handles any attached accessory before the work starts.

Keep pets and children away from the work area and any temporarily exposed opening. Do not remove upper-story screens yourself to prepare. The service team should establish the appropriate access and handling method.

If a screen has sharp damaged edges or loose components, avoid handling it unnecessarily. A photo from a safe position is enough to communicate the concern.

12

12 of 13

Care for the repaired screen

Use the selected material's care instructions. Gentle methods may be appropriate for some products, while special coatings or mesh can have different requirements. Match the cleaning method to the screen you have.

Ask how to hold, remove and reinstall the screen without damaging the frame or retention parts. Do not assume pressure washing or an aggressive cleaner is suitable. If the frame later becomes loose or mesh damage returns, describe the change rather than forcing the screen into place.

Keep the mesh and component information with the repair record. This makes a future matching request easier, especially when only part of a group was repaired.

Send your screen list and photos

Tell Agave Windows your location, the number of affected screens and whether the concern is mesh, frame, fit or a missing assembly. Include whole-window photos and accessible details. When you request screen repair, we can discuss the supported repair route and the information needed for a clear scope.

things people ask us

Frequently Asked Questions

Can torn mesh be replaced without a new screen frame?

It may be possible when the existing frame and retention method are suitable for rescreening. The frame should be assessed first. New mesh does not correct every bent-frame or poor-fit problem.

Can you make a screen when the old one is missing?

A compatible replacement requires assessment of the actual window and its screen position. Share the opening and any product identification. Do not rely on visible glass dimensions alone as the final screen measurement.

Does stronger mesh make a window safe for children?

No. Insect-screen strength should not be used as a fall-prevention claim. CPSC advises that screens must not be relied on to prevent children falling from windows. Discuss suitable protection for the actual opening separately.

Should I bring all the screens to the appointment?

Confirm the actual service arrangement before removing anything. The team may need to see how each screen fits its window. Use room and position labels for any agreed removal, and leave difficult-access screens in place for professional assessment.
